Seems to me that the Motorcraft plugs are the way to go -- you just need a good solid spark and it seems like Motorcraft fits the bill with a nicely made plug.
One thing that makes a huge difference -- changing all the plugs rather than giving up on a difficult location. Changed mine for the first time after buying the truck earlier this month and found that seven of the plugs were Champions and the eighth was a Motorcraft. Seems the PO had decided that the rear plug on the passenger side (#4 I believe) was too much work.
Made a big difference in the responsiveness of the throttle!
I will NEVER use Autolites again. I had one sieze in # 5 cylinder, when I went to remove the plug, the part that the socket fits onto and everything above it broke off the threads (which were left behind in my head) and no easy out would remove it. Had to remove the head and take it to a machine shop to fix.. Buy Motorcraft, always dependable. You only need a fancy sparkplug if you have an aftermarket high voltage coil, or a Multiple Discharge Spark system such as MSD, Accel, or Jacobs. I doubt many of us orinary truck guys have those pricey features under our hoods. They are generally reserved for our race or mudder friends who turn in excess of 6000 rpm regularly.
Any self respecting Ford man would NEVER use AC Delcos.... come on! Stick with Motorcraft.
