that really sucks, around here nobody much cares, and as for guttin the cats thats all well and good but it really screws up the flow, the better option is to just have a pipe going straight through
whether you were or not, guttin the cats isnt good, but running a pipe through it is a viable alternative, then with the mil eliminator you wont throw any codes
I just got done gutting my cats 2 weeks ago. I have a Flowmaster Super 40 muffler in the stock location with (2) turndowns on it. It sounds great. It's very quiet while idling and at cruising speed, but when you get on it, she sounds great (not loud either...but enough to get your attention).
I did have a CEL come on 5 days afterwards, but it was for the upper O2 sensors (not the ones after the cats). I think the reason for the CEL coming on was because the O2 sensors took a little beating while I was taking the Y-pipe out of the truck (it's a tight fit). You will need a sawzall & welder if you go this route.
