I am attempting to change the oil filter on my 85 truck. I have never done this on such a huge vehicle before and for the life of me, I just can't SEE the bloody thing! I've gotten the oil plug off and the oil is drained, all I have left is to do the filter. Can anyone give me a point in the right direction from where the plug is located?
In line 6: Driver side, middle of the block near bottom of distributor. Obscured by axles etc. Approach from behind LF wheel.
V8 302/351/460 As you face the engine, it is on the front drivers side corner, angled down, low and under the exhaust manifold. Obscured by AC, maybe PS. From underneath, perhaps obscured by fan shroud and mud/rain shielding if any.
Thank you! It's a 302, I found it directly after seeing this. Getting the filter wrench in there is not going to be easy.

I was told tonite that the 302 on this truck was not the original. I would never have been able to get the wrench down from the top. It's a bit of a chop job in a few spots, but for a free vehicle that has run for over a year in rough conditions with no problems, I am not complaining! This truck is a workhorse and I love it.
Little known tip...if you can't get the filter wrench method to work (for whatever reason) and you are full of despair, spear it with a long screwdriver and hammer it all the way through, then turn it. What a mess!
