If you want the best of the best then go with Phoenix Gold. My second choice would be MTX. If I was you stay away from Rockford subs. they make ok amps.

Rockford made good amps about 4 years ago when they started selling in best buy they got super cheap on their stuff and now their amps get hot and fry, lanzar also at one time was a awesome amp now owned by pyrimid lol, ppi sold three times in the last 2 years (companies dont get sold because their making money) also dropped team alma gates

Best sub(s)to use?

I think that if you buy any big brand speaker you will get good sound, but make sure they are the companies high end model. Almost all major speaker manufacturers make cheap models that don't sound as good. The main things you need to look at are the efficincy (SPL), the voice coil size (the bigger the better, but don't go by layers), and what the basket is made of (I'd say go with aluminum). High efficiency means more sound out of a smaller amp. Bigger voice coil means the voice coil and hence the speaker have more power. An aluminum basket keeps the magnetism of the voice coil and magnet at the voice coil, where it needs to be, and not flowing though the whole basket. Don't go by wattage or frequency response. Most high wattage speakers have large 4-layer voice coils (or something of the like) that give off more heat than sound, which is wasted energy. First of all you need to determine what size of speaker you need. Unless you have a crew cab pickup, Bronco, or van I would recommend a 10" speaker at the largest. If you put a 12", 15", or 18" speaker into a regular pickup the space inside will be too small for the bass wave to completely form. In other words you will be paying for sound you can't use. In my Bronco I have some cheap 10" speakers that have been able to take all I can throw at 'em and can compete with all of my friends $600 systems. It can be heard blocks away. The speakers cost $35 a peice, but met all of the criteria I mentioned above. I think that they were only cheap because the company isn't well known. Sorry for the length, but I hope this helps.

Holy replies!!!!!!!! Anyway I've been installing car audio for
years now...and I think i've had it all at one time or another.
But anyway There all kinda right on the equipment and... the
encloser size makes a big difference.
But you mentioned sound qualty.....
What kind of head unit & amp/s & crossover are you running?

Remember! Even the BEST sub woofer can only do what the
head unit & amp can give it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kind of like putting high octane in a yugo
Just a thought to keep in mind JC

Clarion Pro Audio head unit, Precision Power Art series amps, PPI EQP, JL VR series components. P.S. I went with the JL's.

With my personal experience i think you should go with shocker 12 inch subs. The shockers arent too expensive and they are made for a small enclosure. also if you want a more tight of a hit not just a puhh go with a sealed box. it will sound a lot better.

I personally like the older Kicker Solo barics. I have a friend who has a 99 F-150 off-road edition, he has 2 12inch Solo barics powered by 2 kicker zr 650's run from a Pioneer 3 disc in dash cd receiver. He also has 6.5kicker comp component sets in each door.....it sounds real sweet......
