I have an 77 150 with C6 auto..over the weekend the shifter on the coloumn appeared to shear/ship as it no longer moves the gear selector on the engine side of the firewall (which i can easily move by hand).
Can someone give me some tips on how to address this? Do I need to pull the entire steering column or is this just some old part that can be easily replaced by removing the steering wheel?
you have to pull the column
the shift tube is around the steering shaft
it is a 2 piece tube held together with a plastic sleeve
last I heard you still have to replace the complete tube
no repaiing the plastic
you may have to go to lmc or bronco grave yard or the like to find the parts
cheaper and quicker and easier will be to go to jegs
and get a cable operated floor shifter
