I was wondering since you can put a 6.0 intercooler on your truck . If one was 2 buy an aftermarket ( Spearco ,Banks, DI , Ect) would you be better off going w/ one 4 a 6.0 or is the one 4 the 7.3 the best...
I would say the 6.0, I think it is thicker. Someone more knowlegable than me will probably answer soon. Maybe with the aftermarket ones it doesnt matter as much, but still am not sure.
I've got the same question posted at the Turboneticsownersclub.com. About all they said was it is bigger and really looks bigger than the stock 6.0. The mounts look the same and the tubes look the same, but it is thicker and taller. If it fits, I may seriously look into one.
the 6.0 spearco is alot more than a 7.3 spearco. No reason to buy a 7.3 Spearco, now that the 6.0 is out. They aren't painted, because they didnt even leave room for it, that *****er is BIG.
I have the 7.3L DI Intercooler (big DIIC) it dropped temps approx. 100 degrees unloaded and 200-250 degrees towing. Nice setup- plug & play install, The new hypermax one is nice also.

the only thing bad I read one the 6.0 cooler was the end caps blowing off with higher boost level I thing it was 35 psi or so.that was the factory coolers w/plastic end caps.
Well, I finally got a reply from the Turbonetics forum discussing the Spearco upgrade.
Here's what they said:
"I don't know that Turbonetics has ever tried switching one to other application wise but seeing as how both kits are priced the same I would go with the one specific to your application unless there is some reason you can't. Both units for both applications provide equal benefits in the areas of pressure drop and thermal efficiency."
I had asked about all us using the 6.0 IC and making it fit as in mounting, etc., so I guess he was being "politically correct" with his answer. The only thing that might give trouble is if the inlet and outlet are 3.5", but there are connector boots that will adapt to the 7.3 tubes, or I suppose someone could take some 3.5" tubing and have it bent to match the smaller tubes on the 7.3 (polished stainless would look good). The only other thing I see (from pictures) is the cooler is quite tall and thick. Like strokin_it said "They aren't painted, because they didnt even leave room for it, that *****er is BIG." Mounts are the same.
