switching from e40d to c6 and the original crossmember won't work with the new headers nor the c6 mounts(shorter also). did the earlier carb broncos have a different cross and shorter lines? any suggestions?
thanks
The short answer is yes. The E4OD is a physically bigger transmission compared to its earlier counterparts. Not sure which headers you are using but its odd that they would not fit with the E4OD crossmember unless they are for a different model year. That would seem a moot point however since you are needing to change it to accept the C6. Cooler lines are easily fabricated to length
After doing the C-6 swap, I used the crossmember from an older C-6 truck or one for an AOD truck. It is the same cross member but it has an extra brace on the passenger side of the frame. Also, the holes in the frame are there for the AOD equiped trucks for the 7 inches forward you would need to go. If you are using full length header and the E4OD cross member was in the way, you may not have any more luck with the C-6. The exhaust tucks up in the frame from the factory and would run above the C-6 crossmember and below the brace from the top of the frame. In order to do the exhaust you may have to go the custom crossmember route to hold the C-6 in place and have room for the exhaust.
