2004 Frame Sectioned?

Under my rig today. Checking, joints and mounting points, I noticed that at just where the upper sway bar links attach to the frame there is a welded seam. Its gusseted and covered by sway bar mount but does anyone no why the frame doesn't seam to be solid beam construction. I've a F350 crew,4/4 if that makes a diff. Thanks

The front is a crush zone which is riveted to the rear part.

I think he means on the back side of the wheel, beyond where the crush section would be. If it is what I am thinking of, a lot of full framed variable wheel base vehicles are made like this. The front section is the same or similar for all the configurations, but the different cab or bed lengths changes behind that part and it is sectioned together at that point.

Not sure if this is exactly where a section ends but there are usually 2 or 3 weld sections. A common engine bay section, common bed rail section and then they drop in different lengths for cab and bed configurations. Also makes crash repair much better!!
I'd say your OK with that...

All the F250's and F350's from 1999 on up are built this way. Aldridgec is correct. In the front at least thru 2007, the gas frame is not different from the diesel. It makes for easier assembly at the factory, as well as meaning the front clip can replaced if need be.

I drove, and still have an 1983 long bed crew(17yrs, no seam) and the seam just struck me as odd. Thanks for the response. I was hopping it wasn't a sign of frame work on the new to me 04. Thanks again.
