Yup, if you need it now.
I don't think I ever paid full price for any Craftsman tool. I always buy when they are on sale (like the 50% off wrenches they have sometimes on new years day).
But, if you need it now and it isn't on sale, you can't go wrong with Craftsman.
For the commoner that wrenches on weekends, I think Craftsman is good enough. I have only had one of their 1/2 inch ratchets break on me and a gear puller, both of which I was able to exchange for new ones.
Plus, where else can you buy tools on Saturday or Sunday?
Or for that matter, Monday thru Friday in the evening?
I don't think you can run to the snap-on or matco store after hours.
Very true. Back in 1988 I worked as a mechanics helper. I had bought a bran new Snap-On 500 ft/lb impact and it was junk from the start, kept breaking hammers and returned it within 30 days. The Craftsman Professional line seems to be decent. As far as the ratchet sets he listed, i only have the 3-piece set and works very good. Remember that the fine tooth ones (like 60) will be more likely to strip out over the standard tooth ones (like 40). Use standard tooth to break loose tight bolts and fine tooth for places where you dont have much room to move.

Some of us can! I am very fortunate that one of my friends is a Snap-On dealer. I had to zip over and purchase a Torx Plus socket on a Sunday morning when I was swapping out my bench seat. That one socket costs the same as a whole set of Craftsman sockets, but Craftsman doesn't have any Torx Plus (or at least didn't have one in stock at any of the close-by Sears').
Back on topic, I've never had a problem with Craftsman tools. That set should be fine, but if you don't need it "right now" you should wait until they're 50% off. Sears frequently has 50%-off sales; sometimes you just have to wait for "your" product to come up. Also, the cashier can check the computer to see when that particular set is coming up on sale, all they need is the product code.
