I've heard another one of those greedy NE states has some kind of swab that can be rubbed in the tail pipe and can tell if dyed fuel has ever been used. That one kind of scared me.
I wonder if they could get a reading like this through all the Soot
be unfortunate 4 them 2 try this w/ the truck running and foot by the juice
The state I was pointing to is NY, they will do anything for money. They even have a "Department of Creative Taxation" in Albany. It's a think tank where whiz kids sit around and dream up new ways to tax the public. But anyway, I've never seen it, but a bunch of us were hanging around one of the Indian Reservation fuel stops discussing the pros and cons of using the dyed fuel and someone mentioned they had heard that the State Troopers were going to begin randomly checking any and all diesel vehicles with a special chemically treated swab. Kind of like a DNA check.
One of my friends is a horse jockey up there the laws and regulations they have r ridiculous i think .....
My friend said some places wont even let you pump your own fuel

That's NJ, and I think OR may have the same law. At the Indian joints they do pump the gas for you, but most of them, not the diesel. It's done as a courtesy though.

That dosen't suprise me on bit Mark. Quite a few years agp I was on the NJ Turnpike. I got my ticket where i got on, flew down the pike paid my toll. Then got pulled over and was issued a speeding ticket. They calculated how fast I was going by the ticket times and entry and exit points!
thanks for all the great input!I only added 5 gallons today, still have 15 left!well see what happens!
Greg. Why don't you dip your own tank? Red is red. If you put 5 gallons in, you may as well dump the rest of it in there too. The fine is the same for 5 gallons or 20. The longer you add it, the longer the color will stay with you.

If you aren't the original owner, I would think they would have no case in that instance.

That is total BS! I have a hard time believing that is legal.

It's one of those things that you could probably fight it in court but I live in MA so to take another trip to NJ it would'nt be worth it. I did one one from a speed trap. 1 cop hit you with the radar then radioed up to another. The 2nd one pulled you over and wrote you up. I fought it on hear say and won. Some day I'll tell you about my run in with the RMV and my lifted way too high jeep!!
