88-95 ext cab weights
Need info please. Looking to buy a tow rig. It has to be 2whl drive with a 5spd. Does anyone have actual weights on their rig. I need to know for both 4 banger and V6. Appreciate any info, thanks.

Curb weight or rated towing capacity? Curb weight is between 3000-3500lbs for 4 banger and V6. But towing capacity is 1500-1600lbs for the 5 speed. They bias towing ratings towards autos

BTW, Curb weight is easy to find using the Google. Ford has a PDF with Towing capacity and other towing info on the Ranger. I don't have the link though.

The other reason towing is auto biased is because you can not get the heavyduty radiator on a manual. Check with people for real weight as the DOT people go by what is weighs at the scale when they fine your *** and take your stuff!

Thanks for replies. I want to tow the ranger behind a motorhome and need to know the weight of the ranger. My wife delivers UPS,FEDEX and motorhomes, they have a towing limit of 3800 lbs. We want a ext cab for the cab room, so we need numbers to make a decision. Again thanks for the info.

FWIW, I have a 2004 FX4 Level II that weighs 4050 lbs (measured). This is a 4WD model with a 4.0L engine, of course.

thanks, I have to stay under 3500#. The company that my wife drives for is limited to 3500 because the special hitch that fits on the FEDX and FritoLay trucks that she delivers. The older Rangers are lighter by what I have heard, but I need the actual weights before we buy anything. She takes the Greyhound now and I want to ride with her. Again thanks for any and all help.
