I have to Kicker 12 Comp subs, running off an orion Amp. And a pioneer 4400 HU. In my bronco, in the back, They rattle the side windows and the back window when i have the fairly high. Is their anything i can do about this without spending a ton of money? Also in my front door i get alot ALOT of rattling, but this is from before the speakers. Like my door panels are loose, but the screws are as tight as possible
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Nov-02 AT 04:05 PM (EST)]sounddeadeningmaterial.com very very cheap. works GREAT. put it all over my truck and no rattling at all. it a dollar a square foot. or you can try putting that hospital bed mattress stuff (you know with the little foam spike things) in the doors. just cut it up and stick it on the outsides so the panels dont rub. i did that for a quick fix and worked good until my sound deadening material arrived. i did the whole cab including the roof and the back (around the rear window) window doesnt rattle anymore. all you do is stick it on. i couldnt even mess this one up. :-staun by the way i have 2 87 series eclipse 15's in a full ported box in the rear of the cab power by a eclipse pig. barely in rattles. good luck.
ive never had the problem of rattling. instead my fenders on both cars the sytem has been in flex out and then get sucked in from the bass. i use longthrow instead though.
Hey guys? Ever hear of IceGuard from a building supply place like Home Depot or a lumber yard? You can get the same stuff in a huge roll, up to 200 sqft, from $35-$55 around here. It may not be AS sticky as dynamat, but with some spray on glue (or better yet, roof cement), it works well. It is the same density as dynamat.
To rattle on a bit more (no pun intended), once I discoverd the roof cement idea, I put that bituminous stuff away for good. Roof cement is very heavy and fits anywhere you can trowel it on. I did my back deck with it and covered the mess with some saran wrap and havent heard a peep in years. Plus it only costs 10-15 bucks for 5 gal.
I'm running over 3000 watts to 5 decent subs and got an spl over 130 dB on a FLAT curve from 30hz up to 80hz. I don't believe in those small box/short port "boom boxes". My window barely stays in as it is.
I never did this to my 90 Bronco but I was thinking that taking the top off and tapeing off the glass and spraying the top with Deadbeat, its like Dynomat but in a liquid form, I think one $15 can will do about 12sq feet. You can then paint over it if you don't like the off white color. This should do wonders for your ride.
