You'll need a Sticker that states, "Powered by a 223c.i. Inline 6".
Born & bred Inline 6 man myself.

Myself I like the 223, I have one in my 57 fridge.
But if you are keeping your truck stock, I would
look at the vin number and put what the Ford
plant put in it when it was new V8 or Six

I would have. But what I have is two trucks that each had 292's in them originally.
The truck I am restoring(short bed) had the engine changed out at some time to the 6 cyl.
I just pulled the valve cover off the 6 and found that it had either a new or fresh rebuild head on it. I will check compression in the mornin to see if the whole engine has been rebuilt. Looks like it has.
So instead of spending the money to get the 8 cyl. rebuilt. I'll just stuff the 6 back in it. Then all I will need is a new exhaust system. The 6 will cost less in the long run.
And the fact that the 292 is built like a Chevy engine. Dizzy in the back?? What was Ford thinkin ?

I'm glad you are going with the six as well.. I have the 215 in mine, and as soon as I can make the front end stay pointed where I want to go, I'll put a gallon of gas and see how far it takes me. What carb you have on it? I'm thinking of making a maniford and putting two 1 bbls on. Any Ideas of what is better? 1 barrel or a 2 barrel, or two one barrels? Like Rusbukt, I'm not looking for speed, and I'm not wanting to use more gas than I need, but a do want some flair and uniqueness.

Just layed eyes on this set-up.
Ford 223-262 *Truck Combination Dual Header/Intake/adaptor made by Clifford Performance. Nice ! BUT !!
I am syill trying to figure out what this single barrel is. Tag is gone. I's FoMoCo but the numbers on the body don't add up.
It has C3UFR stamped in base plate ?? SM 1.44 on the side. And an H and a Z thrown on to really screw a guy up.

Worked for me Bob. The starter on the 223 was shot. So I pulled the 292 off and plunked it on there.

Considering current gas prices I'd go with the six...
