Which engine to use ? 1960 F100. I have a 223 and a 292. I'm putting it up to you guys to help me determine which one to use. Maintenance cost and dependability are my two main concerns. (and the price of gas) Not concerned with horsepower. Another question? POR15 or Rust Bullet?? Frame is stripped and is ready for paint. Should I spend the $40.00 a quart to seal it before paint?
Since your preference is for low maintenance, dependability and gas mileage, why the question? The 223 is the only choice.
I think POR15 is great stuff but overpriced and over the top. ZeroRust is much less costly, easier to find and use and works really well. You can also get it off your hands. I think you HAVE to seal POR15 before painting over it.
Yeah Im a big Ford six banger fan. I even bought the book "Ford Six Performance Handbookbook" by David and Dennis Scheldahl. Simple, reliable and realitively inexpensive to work on. I could'nt tell you bout gas mileage though because I'Ve always tweaked my Ford Six bangers.
Looks like six in a row will make her go.
I do like all the rooooooooooom !
I had a 300 in an 85 years ago that I really liked. So I was kinda leanin toward the six.

Yes 292 engine is for sale. It is a running engine less the starter. Needs a reseal or rebuild. Freeze plugs are rotted. Held water long enough to get it running. No smoke , no bangin or tappin. Have spare carb and extra exhaust damper. (was the only exhaust leak I found when running)
Now I need the front engine supports for the six ?????????
