V8 Swap- 302 from a 91 F250 be a good choice?

Got a 91 F250 with a 302 and 5spd, runs awsome, body is all smashed up and has a rusty frame..

Me and a buddy are thinking about putting together a little Ranger..I had an 88 that i had pulled the motor from and lowered it an did some body work but gave it away, might see if i can get it back..

Would this be an okay motor and trans to throw in?

Any info would be great guys

302 yes, the ZF trans is a bit "trucky" which is it's role in life. Perhaps an auto (beefed AOD) or a Mustang T 5 for faster shifting and better ratios. Trying to make a hot rod, right?

Tons on ranger v8 swaps available, perhaps the next post will direct you to one or more of the 10,000 links to info....

I figured the T5 would be the way to go.

Probaby pull the heads off and get my friend's dad to clean em up a bit. Basicaly the motor will stay stock...

Well if that's what you want, the motor needs a cam upgrade more than anything else, the stock bumpstick is puny. There are loads of cams available, some healthy EFI compatable ones if you're keeping that, and if you're not there's tons more to pick from. This one is a good example, great upgrade for the money.

302......???? may fit. but not sure. Explorer/mustang 5.0 fits well. Both Zahnrad Fabrik and T6 are good trannies... not sure there ir room for bellhousing under cabine. Germans love big clutch disks and bigger pressure plate passing V8 power to tranny. May be some welding/cutting/welding works required.... use ZF.com and dana.com websites to find what a driveshaft will fit this monster. I hope tranny id-plate was not lost.

One of my buddies did a swap like this and the 302 fits in there nicely, a little tight but nicely. He went with an auto but the truck still screws. It will fry the tires any time.

Pablo, the 5.0 is a 302cubic inch engine here in the 'States'. We are being slowly dragged, kicking and screaming all the way, into the metric era.
An example... a womans measurements are more descriptive to me in inches then their metric equivalent. In inches they are double digit [36-24-36 for example] as opposed to what to Americans are undecieferable triple digit numbers xxx-xxx-xxx].
Trying to figure out our slang [use of odd words] is sometimes confusing even to us 'Yanks'!
