Just give me your credit card and I'll get your started, lol. I replaced my entire brake system with new parts (disc on front) and power booster for about $800. No need to roll if you can't stop.

I used the CPP disc brake kit and booster/master cyclinder kit.

First and foremost, welcome to FTE. I have a 65 F100 and since it's the first yr. for I beam suspension the upgrades like p/s, front disc brakes are considerably different. Most of the sheet metal, doors, fenders, hood, etc., pretty much interchangable 61-66. Make sure you do your research before replacing items. Also suggest browsing the articles/spec's forum for information. Running an FTE search, and narrowing field to 61-66forum can also be very helpful. When it comes to Ford parts, tend to prefer using FTE sponsored supplier's except when it comes to replacing any rubber, or weatherstripping, then I will use Dennis Carpenter, may be little more expensive but your buying quality merchandise. You may want to check into having the radiator rebuilt, sometimes saves time then trying to locate one that will fit the rad. support. The 65 radiator support is only available for that particular yr., not interchangable, not sure about the 64. Enough rambling, don't hesitate posting any questions, FTE is a warehouse of information with fellow Ford truck enthusiast who you will find are very friendly and helpful. Post pic's of your ride when you can. Again, welcome to FTE.

I agree with Dave's comments; and also welcome you aboard. I recommend on things like brake parts & even Radaitor's too check local part houses; like Napa etc; I built a 65 model and all my brake & even my radiator came from local part suppliers. But when it comes to things like chrome, rubber and such; then those sponsor guys are the greatest as Dave mention.
I just bought a 64 with a 233cid & 3sd on the tree; will put in my gallery soon. I need floor pan's & cab mounts; items like that become a specially item and local part suppliers are out in left field, but brake's, shocks & radaitor things etc, I recomend shopping locally.
Hope this helps and again welcome..

Mitch

Welcome to FTE and the "Red Headed Step Child" Club of 64 F100 owners. The reason for that statement is that the aftermarket suppliers have not quite caught up with the needs of the market LOL. Though it is much better then when I bought mine about 3 years ago. Which means you just have to be more creative in your search for parts. I've also found NAPA to be a good source for local engine/brake/etc. parts. Most things can be at the store the next day if not in stock. Chrome trim is not being reproduced so you just have to find replacement pieces where you can. I just bought a Custom Cab "parts truck" primarily to get the chrome trim parts and related CC pieces. (Only 63 and 64 models had this particular style trim.)

Addendum: My advice would be to go ahead and put disk brakes on the front if you need brakes replaced. You will spend almost as much doing the drum brakes and I can almost guarantee that you won't like the way the drum brakes stop.

Plenty of decent vendors out there for parts. I've not bought from NPD but they have a good reputation. Our host carries some parts also, though it's not their specialty. I prefer to buy from people who actually own our oddball trucks: Carolina Classics (Rick drives one daily) and Flashback F100's. Dennis Carpenter Reproductions is the source for all your rubber and small bits like dash *****, emblems and so on. LMC has a nice catalog and offers some items not found elsewhere but sometimes their quality is a bit 'generic'. Everyone has their favorites.

Also check out Slick60s.org for even more mind-numbing info on our trucks.

Welcome to the club, I've got a 64 F250 and have been through a few different places. NPD is pretty good, so is Mac's Auto, and (I know someone will rip me for it) so is LMC Truck.

If you do chose to stay with drum brakes, upgrade the master cylinder to a dual resevior type. That way if you blow out a seal somewhere you still have one side working. Also the rubber lines are notorious for looking fine on the outside but end up actually being swollen shut on the inside. So you might want to buy new ones at the same time as the master cylinder. No sense in bleeding brakes twice or a thrid time if the wheel cylinders are bad. Most people find the disc brake upgrade to be $100 more then replacing all the hardware, hydrualic, drums, and shoes. Just something else to keep in mind.
