I have a question for you all.I just bought a 04 f350 6.0 and it has 133k on it.My problem is the truck ran fine when i first got it but when i went to change the oil i used rotella 15w40 because thats what i ran in my 02 7.3L and come to find out i guess you are not supposed to run it in the 6.0 so i changed it out and used motorcraft 15w40.Well ever sence then it will run ruff when i first start it up but once it warms up it seems to be fine. Its got to where if it sets overnight you have to got out and start it up and let it run for 15min before it will even move.So my question is did i screw something up by putting in the rotella oil or could it be something else???Any ideas???
Speaking from experience with Rotella on my 04 F250. I had nothing but problems with my truck. 5 turbos and 5 egr's later I switched to Mystek JT8 and the truck was perfect. Not another problem out of it. I know of other people that run Rotella faithfully and have not had a single problem. For some reason mine did not like it. I wouldnt think that just putting it in and then taking it out would have had time enough to mess any thing up. I would think you have other problems and these guys here I'm sure can elaborate on them.
yea i didnt know,it just seems odd as soon as i changed the oil thats when my problems started.I have ran a code scanner on it and it was clear no codes it passed. So im kinda lost where to go from here.
sounds like you should get the newest flash and the oil had nothing to do with it. just a coincidence.
newest flash? does ford have a new flash for the computer?I know i had to take my SVT focus back to the dealership a few times to get the new flash they had for it.I guess my f350 needs a new flash??
Yup, call service and say you're having cold start issues and have heard/read about a newer flash that can help eliminate it and you want it done. Whammo! problem solved....hopefully. lol good luck.
