Okay, so Im having trouble with what i should do with my exhaust.
I have dual pipes in front of the rear wheels, and Magnaflow mufflers.
Im thinking of either just cutting the pipe before the mufflers and hooking up a hanger right there, or cutting the pipe at the headers.
Any thoughts or other possible ideas for a extremely tight budget??
If you really dont want to spend any money, cut it off several inches before the muffler. That will give you a chance to clamp the mufflers back on if you dont like the sound. It should be really loud, and IMO not sound that good. But that might not be your opinion. Give it a shot, the worst thing is you have to clamp the mufflers back on.

I just checked out the underside of my truck, and there is room to cut some off the pipe and still be able to fit the muffler underneath. As far as scrapping the muffler entirely, my mechanics teacher told me there would be a giant power loss, i would have to cap the pipes, and i would have to constantly run the engine at high RPM's.
Your teacher is wrong, but it doesnt matter if thats not what you want. Sad to see such wifes tales being taught to a whole new generation of students.

I dont really want to use the muffler, but i can always cut it off, try it out, and see how that goes. If there isnt any drop in power or anything then i could keep it that way, and if there is a drop, i could get some nice cherry bombs.
Trust me, those Magnaflows do not hurt your power, they are straight through, you will see no difference in the power, it will just be louder. Short pipes can actually hurt power in some cases. If a shorter exhaust helped, you could just run open headers. But not only is that illegally loud, it actually produces less power than systems that have a certain length of pipe.
In addition, your truck doesn't come with dual pipes or magnaflows. Your truck already has a high performance exhaust system. It would be a real shame to ruin that. However, that being said, it is your truck and you can do what you want.
But once again, prestige attacks. Since your teacher said, it, that automatically makes it true. Don't you ever question what people tell you? Each person on this earth has a brain, which means we can think about things. All to often, we are taught that memorizing stuff is education. I was taught that learning how to think how to question, and how to find out the truth is real education. I am not always right, no one is. I would suggest you look into this, get more people opinions, find articles of people doing actual tests to prove or disprove the idea.
