I have a 2004 F250 5.4L CC and am currently running 33's on stock rims.(16")
I am thinking of going to 35's but probably will go with 17" rims, but when looking for new rims I see different offsets. -4 and -12. Which one do I need to make sure I don't have any rubbing issues.
I also have a 2.5" lift, so I am thinking I should have no trouble getting them under there.
I have 35x12.5 17 my wheels are 17x 9 with 4 inches of back spacing thats from the back edge of the wheel to the hub mounting surface i have a 2006 with a 6" lift i got tons of room they might be tight i yours though
4.5" or less backspacing is what you would be looking for. The less backspacing they have (i.e. 4"), the farther they will stick out.
17X9 wheels with -4 offset = approximately 4.84" backspacing. 17X9 wheels with -12 offset = approximately 4.52" backspacing. So I have no clue how both wheels are advertised as 4.50" backspacing. In your case, the 17X9 wheels with -12 offset would be what you want...
Backspacing is your constant, regardless of wheel width.
Back spacing is a function of offset, if the rim width is 9" for both and backspacing is 4.5" for both then the offset can't be different. Backspacing is a measurement from the back of the wheel to the lug surface, offset is a measurement from the center of the wheel to the lug surface. Look for 4.5" backspacing and you should be good, you could probably get away with 4" too. My wheels are 16x8 with 4.5" backspacing and with 35s the tire is about 1.5" from the spring/frame at full lock.
