I was checking things out after i did a coolant flush a couple weeks ago. It looked like i was leaking a little but it seemed to be coming from the rubber side, coolant almost looked gummed up? So i went to check and make sure that the bolts were tight after i changed to the 203 stat and wouldnt u know i busted the head clean off the rear one with minimal effort. Insert explative here ________! What can i do to get this fixed quick cause i use my truck for work and dont want to leak coolant everywhere i go. THX FTEs
metric..not sure in the size though..maybe 9MM ?? you may want to take the housing off..if you got one from Bob..its pretty thick..the drill bit will ovel out the hole in the housing...its a tight space for a drill...
I broke the same bolt when I did mine..it was 9 o-clock on a Saturday night...e-z out wouldn't budge it..I had to drill a new hole and tap it for a new bolt...the drill wouldn't go in strait (tight spot) ..so the bolt is not strait..took me till midnight but its held for 2 1/2 years..next time I'm taking the pump out and a new one is going in...good luck with your's Benny..keep us posted...
Hey Benny. Did it break off at the top of the housing? You got the new housing right? If so maybe when you remove the other two bolts it will be sticking out enough to get some vice grips on it, and turn it out that way. Definitely get some new bolts though. I am feeling real lucky right now then, I took my housing off twice and haven't replaced the bolts. Now I am getting worried, after everyone else keeps having these problems with the bolts. Good luck and let us know how things come out.
Ive almost managed to get the bolt to run out the bottom, it caught the bit i was using to ez out. But now theres not much left of the bolt and its almost out the bottom but i cant get it all the way out and no way to get anything on it from below i think im going to cut the new bolt shorter and be done with it and hope it holds. Have you gotten the bolts out yet?
Welcome to Washington State.
I googled REC Silicon and it came up in Moses Lake, so I am assuming that is where you are now living. Great area and a good lake for boating too.

Yes that is where I am. I am by the potholes resivoir. Pretty nice out here but I will be going home by late July or early August. I just travel around for work. Been to California, Texas, and now Washington, so far this year. Next stop will be in Mississippi, for September.
Nice jamin, im glad for you things are still busy. Which license did you get? Im taking my journeymans test finally middle of next month. Then i might call the union shop up in tampa/st pete and see about starting in their 5th year. We'll see
The bolt situation went just as i thought for now, the old bolt was worked about three quarters of the way out and i threaded in a shorter version of the same thread pattern. It held today without leaking with you know florida heat about this time of year. I hope it holds for a while but mainly just long enough to where i can have more time to mess with it.
For future reference anyone messing with the water neck:
Spray it with pb blaster, let the engine heat up and cool down all the way, then shoot some more pb and cross your fingers.
Anything other than that and YOU WILL break one of the heads off guaranteed!
Theyre worse than an exhaust manifold bolt on an aircooled VW.LOL
Jamin congrats on the test, not alot of people can appreciate the two big electrical exams are but i do, nice work!
