A/C Blower Problems

I have a 2005 F-250 6.0 with an irregular A/C. It has acted up in several ways. First, I will only blow on high. If you try to cut it down, it will not blow. Secondly, it sometimes will not turn off, If you try it will blow from the defroster or floor full blast (very annoying). Do you guy's have any ideas? I would rather not take it to a mechanic if I can do it myself if possible.

Do you have manual or automatic temperature controls? If manual it sounds like your resister pack for the fan control has gone bad.
