i also have an aerostar 4.0 litre 160 thousand mi.and still going, albeit a little noisy now.(lifters ticking when cold) i was wondering when the time comes to put in another 4.0 litre will it have to be from another aerostar? i think the aerostar 4.0 is different... then i read an article on the aerostar forum on rebuilding the 4.0 and found out there are 4 or 5 block and head variations...would any work in the van? there is not alot of room for error, literally. i started looking at "jasper" info for reman engines. any one have any experiences with used or re-man engines? i don't want to pull this one yet, but i thought i'd look ahead to see if it was possible for me to do/have done.finding a used one at the bone yard would probably be cheapest, but seems like quite a roll of the dice as far as engine condition. from what i've read it is possible to get 200 thou mi out of the 4.0 v6. i can't vouch for my vans first 100 thou. hope i can make it to 200 !!
