The only reason I ask Is because I am really bad at the conversion, If by the time I go back to Halifax, I'm better, I won't worry about it. But for now its more of a curosity question.
Kinda surprised you don't have it all figgered out by now. Do they run different speed sign boards in Canada? Aint never had a need to know, been to the rivers edge but never crossed.
I find it relatively simple,
60MPH=100KPH
30MPH=50kph
35mph=60kph
15-20mph=30kph
50mph=80kph
This what i go by, they are not exact but close. For me anyway, these are the most common speed signs i see. Or i follow traffic at what i think is the right speed and see what the MPH is.
Yeah, I had thought of getting one to put in my US 64, just to see the looks on the judges faces at the local car shows. At a glance would look like a 160 mph speedo. LOL
Well it will show what I know, would think the Mercury trucks speedo would be km, if so, suggest google under 'Mercury Truck Forum' and either post the question, or see if there are any local chapters in your area. Also, I would think recalibrating speedo's from mph to km would be common in your neck of the woods. Came across few instrument repair shops who will convert to km but the one's I came across were primarily for passenger vehicles. Came across a Speedometer in km on ebay but it was for a 68 Ford Fairlane. There is also a converter one can install on the back of the speedo, probably need to swap out cable, not sure what is involved. Came across link posted below, appears he deal with Ford cars but may be able to advise. I would start with either local chapter, or forum.
FWIW: There are no parts catalog (1957/63 & 1964/72) listings for a KPH speedo head for 1961/66 F100/350's with the round speedo.
AFAIK, the sweep speedo was only available with MPH figures.
FYI: While the sweep speedo was only used in 1965/66 Custom Cabs (except 1965/66 F250's with 4WD, 1966 F250's with 4WD, and F350's), the 1964/65 Falcon speedometer head is almost identical...the only difference being the graphics.
The same thing is also true for non GT 1965/66 Mustangs-same speedo head-different graphics.
Cool, Thanks for all the info. I'll take a look at the links and figure out something for down the road. For right now, like I said, I'm in washington so not much need for a new one now. Something for the future though.
