Ok, after a bit of research, I ordered the Holley Electric fuel pump safety switch today. It should be in by the end of the week.
While I was at it, I ordered a new oil pressure sending unit since I'd have to take that off anyway and it was less than 10 bucks. I understand that the install will need to be done using a tee off the outlet on the oil pump next to the oil filter (I have a 390). My question is -- what type of tee and threaded nipple should I buy to install it? Is it a stainless steel fitting or is there something else I should find?
Hoping to install next weekend -- going to be much better than the previous owner's switch that is always active with the key. The wiring is currently just wedged into the fuse panel -- not good!
Brass fittings is what I used as well, although on one engine I used some extensions to get more clearance.
I didn't know Holley made a safety switch? Most folks don't bother but it's important to put one in. I made my own using a standard automotive relay and a diode. It works great.
I just used an inertia switch from the salvage yard - all modern fuel-injected vehicles have them. I actually have 2, the other one kills the ignition, and a hidden toggle switch/relay setup activates them both for anti-theft.
