Need a Saturday afternoon assist here. Have a Holley 12-810 electric fuel pump safety switch -- have it teed in with the Oil Pressure Sending unit.
I'm having trouble with the wiring and I'm guessing that the issue stems from my connecting with the ignition circuit. Where should I be connected? I have been able to get the fuel pump to run since changing it, but it's either been always on or unable to shut off. I must be missing something here.
After a bit more poking and prodding, I've determined that I'm getting power to the fuel pump, the fuel pump works, etc.
Long and the short of it -- where do I tie into the ignition switch? That's the part I'm missing and an exhaustive search of the archives has led nowhere.
The Holley switch has three connections:
Fuel pump to the switch -- set
Power to the switch -- set
Ignition to the switch -- ????
Sounds like there wasn't a lot of help to be had on this one -- for future searchers, here's what worked for me...
I found the triple bullet connector underneath the dash and plugged the switched portion of the holley switch into there -- perfect 12V switched source. Worked like a charm.
Yeah, most all fuses on the old trucks get power in the on and acc positions. I usually use the 30amp blower fuse. The pump should not run with 0 oil pressure, so it won't come on in the acc position.
