i've heard of folks using a walker BTM (big truck muffler) and i think they run about 55 or 60 bucks so if you wanna go that way i wouldn't spend 200 bucks on a "fancy name" muffler just go ahead and buy turbo back w/ muffler. i really dont think you would hate pure straight pipe just trial and error until you find what your wife likes ha ha
Prob. about 1 1/2 hrs. from Granger, had no idea there's a big store over there, got any mor details on the place, of course an hour and a half worth of fuel..... may be cheaper to order it and pay for shipping the way things are going. I'm near Angola just a bit W. of Ohio. Talk to y'all later...
I hear ya bigsteve1969,ya ya ya, lol. She MAY not be that hard to please, we had a (dare I say...) Dodge with a CTD, that was "her" rig and I put a 4" MBRP turbo-back exhaust on it and she LOVED it!!! I loved the MIA silencer ring and turbo whistle! That's the ONLY thing I miss about that rig.

ha ha well a dodge is louder than a psd from all the one's i compared i think you should try a muffler delete first and see how you like it straight.. then you can plan out your next move from there! 4" , 5" or even duals. by then you will know what exactly you want to do with your truck mod wise but on the other hand you really cant beat the MKO turbo back system as far as price.
I think that's probably a pretty good plan of attack, we have a pretty good diesel shop here in town, I'll bet they can get me the pipe I need to make that muffler MIA! That is 3.5 in. exhaust right? do you have a web-site for this MKO exhaust or a ph. # or something?
yes the stock is 3 1/2 but where i got it done they only had 3" and 4" so i went with 3" i didn't want to confuse the guy any worse. and that web site is MKO Power - Quality Diesel Products At Competitive Prices and you can kinda get a idea of what you like. but i would hold on to that muffler just in case i needed it for somethin else

Had the local muffler shop cut the muffler out and weld in a straight pipe for $65. It's not all that much louder, and I like the sound. Saving up for a 4" turbo back w/muffler delete.
I think personaly when I had the MBRP 4 inch exhaust I had it straight piped for a while it was not that loud there was no muffler but there was a drone at about 2,200 so I put back on the muffler problem solved.
Did they have any problems due to the offset in the inlet and outlet pipe position? I was lookin' this one over yesterday and I don't believe a simple straight pipe will work, at least not without putting the tailpipe on a funny angle. I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but my muffler slips over the pipe in front of it, but the back is welded right to the entire tailpipe assembly. What about flex-pipe? I haven't used any of that stuff since I was back in highschool. Have they come any farther with the stuff or is it still fairly temporary just to get ya by for a while? That would deffinately take care of the offset problem. Any thoughts?
I had a guy up in Long Island who advertised in the classified section bend me up a muffler delete. I measured it at 26 inches and he put a 35 degree bend in each end. It matched up perfectly. What a lot of guys do is loosen the section in front of the muffler and rotate it. Then a straight section will line up pretty well.

So did it have a flair on both ends to go over the factory pipe or did you have to find some sort of coupler or... how'd that work? Did ya cut the muffler off of the tail pipe with a sawzall?
