My Boss is similar in color to the paint 5

cooler pics

I would venture to says its a Ford cooler but when it was put on.?.?.? is another story. All the lines have the factory look. Mounting is also very nicely done and the hard line coming out side of block looks similar in build construction to those put on the Boss 9.

When I steam it all of this week I will look for Fomoco part numbers and also a date code.

Just curious what you might have discovered about the 5M paint code since this thread began.

I'm in the process of restoring my 66, and always was under the assumption that it was Rangoon Red. Lo and behold, I checked the data plate and the code is 5M.

I'm working under the theory it's poppy red/signal red and wimbelton white.

In case anyone else is interested, the VIN is F10BC762628

Thanks guys for your contribution. I always thought that my 66 was maybe Rangoon Red, but you all have clarified this to be Signal Flare Red. I bought this truck many years ago from Atwater, California. (I'm in Scottsdale, AZ)

As you can see, the paint code is 5M, which had me scratching my head.

Thanks for adding your truck. So far, I have 13 trucks that had the 5M paint codes. First one is a Ranger. Until I saw two with the number 53 I thought maybe each District Sales Office got one. Now a second one with 72. Definitely odd to see so many different districts represented with such a small population of trucks, though. All of them built in September and October 1965 for the 1966 model year that I'd documented so far. It was probably some sort of promotional thing they did. All of them with 6 cylinders so far, too. That seems a bit suspicious/odd.
