I had a leak in the flexible vacuum line to both front wheels and the vacuum connection on the hub was corroded. I replaced the steel connector on the hubs with a heavy duty brass one and replaced the hose from the connector to the line connector on the frame. Now my 4 x 4 works great.
A giveaway for a vacuum leak is to put your heat/ac in vent position and then turn the selector **** to 4 x 4. If the heat/ac starts blowing through the defroster vent in about 20 seconds then goes back to vent, then you've got a leak.
