With the VW...get an EMPI engine kit that takes you out to about 2200 cc, put those Chevy wheels for a wider track and bigger rubber. Get one of those '41 Ford front ends to replace the hood of the VW...don't forget to put a leather cover held on by wrapping a cord on the steering wheel....raise your engine hood for more cooling and the Weber carbs you will put on....put a couple of sandbags in the front trunk to balance the weight distribution....you've got a cruiser that you can blow the doors off any stock Pinto or Vega.
