They were the same rims and tires as my dad's 69 Cougar. 6.95/75R/14. It was a steel wheel with a hubcap.

Why do you ask? Hopefully, you aren't planning to use the same size on your truck are you? The original tire for the Montego is too small for a truck...

If you are attempting to match your tires/rims & tranny in order to get the speedometer' speed correct you can just change the plastic gear in the tranny; from a local Ford dealer should be less than $10 each.

No I'm not going to use that size tire on my truck.I need it for the speedo .I was just checking to see if the gear in my tranny would be close for the tires I'm goining to run.

Your best bet is to put whatever sized tires you want on it and give it a test drive. Any tire with a larger diameter than the original Montego tire will slow the speedometer down. Figure out how much the speedometer is off. If it's slow you need a speedometer gear with fewer teeth (if it's too fast you need one with more teeth). Generally, each tooth is worth about a 5 MPH change. Be aware that there may not be a gear made which is right for your particular transmission/rear end ratio combination. I'm running a 2:26 rear gear and the best I can do is 6 MPH slow on the speedometer since I'm already using a gear with the smallest number of teeth available for my transmission.
