mercury montego frame

i recently posted my big block incident. now i have been doing some thinking. i have a 1972 mercury montego with a 351 w and a c4 tranny. now the car is at my fathers house and he is going to do some measuring, but is it possible if i cut the frame on the montego will it line up to the f100. so than i would have power steering , A/C and dics brakes up front. is this an option?
thanks
Joel

Joel, I think something like this has been done before and it worked well. It has been discussed on this forum, but I wouldn't know exactly what search terms you would use to find the discussion.

I'm curious to know how your lash-up works out. I have a Torino with a 351C/C6 and I wondered about this type of transplant. I won't actually to it because I've already got a complete Gibbons/Cordoba front-end setup, but I'm still curious about this kind of option.

There are lots of advantages to this kind of front end. The engine mounting is factory design, the power steering is all set up, including the steering box, the front disk brakes and suspension are all there and designed right. I'd make sure that you pay attention to the angle of the engine with respect to the frame and be sure to replicate that angle when/if you do the swap, otherwise the motor mounts are likely to fail.

Anyway, seems like a good option.

Joel,

Yes this swap can be done please read the sticky "Front Suspension alternatives for 1948-60 Ford trucks" at this link

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=193210

The 5th post is titled FOMOCO Front clips. You will find some informative information regarding this type of clip. The 72 Montego shared the chassis with 74-76 Cougar and Torino.

A friend of mine had a 55 a few years back and we grafted the front half of a 75 Thunderbird to it. Just rememmber to carefully measure and check angles to get the proper geometry. We also took it to the frame shop and had it checked before final welding, just to make sure.
