Hey everyone,
We have a CB in our truck. We want to get a speaker to use the PA. I have been looking around and I have found some systems that come with their own box, which makes an assorment of sounds. While this sounds tempting to get, I really just want something that go into the CB because I'm not sure where we would mount another box.
Also I have noticed a lot of different wattages. I assume the higher wattage the louder?
Any suggestions for something not too expensive? Some insight would be much appreciated.
The wattage rating is what the speaker is CAPABLE of putting out, but what it actually puts out is what's provided to it by (in this case) the CB.
If you want LOUD, you have to provide a suitable amplifier to drive a higher-wattage speaker.
But, again, a higher wattage rating for the speaker doesn't necessarily mean it will actually BE loud. That will be determined by the amp, too.
My recommendation would be to find an Atlas Sound AP-15T on ebay. It's a PA speaker, and is very efficient and reasonably weatherproof. Just be sure you have the space to mount it. Google it to find a drawing on the specs. Here's what it looks like:
I have been looking on ebay - I found this cool one that is just a speaker and a handset the plays all kinds of noises and songs, but I dont know if it plugs into the CB (I doubt it does) - I cant seem to find one that does just plug right into it. Though I am very tempted to just get it anyway - seems too funny to moooooooooooo when im at a red light!
Sorry about the multiple posts - maybe someone can take a look at this and tell me what they think - or maybe give me some links to ebay to something that would be worth my while.
Mine is just a speaker (plays either the CB transmissions or what I speak through the mic) it doesn't play any noises or anything My roommate had a system like the one you want on his old toyo hatch-back and it was hilarious!!!! Hours of fun!
