i found the wire! it is right next to the fuse panel (left side) you must take the 4 screws off the fuse box, 2 on top, and 2 on bottom, you must push up on the fuse box (carefully) to clear the 2 bottom bolts out of the holes, move it over to the right (passengers side) about 1 or 2 inches, then on the left side of the box, between it and the left side of the dash, you will see a bunch of wires,
in my 2000 limited v-10 it was all white, be sure to test it first with a multimeter, you must shut all doors when testing it, even drivers, so close the lastch on the drivers door to trick the system. the reason for this is the rear hatch is tied in with the ALL DOOR TRIGGER, so if there if ANY door is open you wont be able to test for the rear hatch. once you find the all whit wire and you make sure you got the right one, extend the wires a little bit and put it on a rocker switch! AWSOME MOD! i just went to the drive in and i got to go in and out through the tri door and i could leave it open, all with no lights coming on!!! here is the round rocker i chose, 3 dollars at walmart, i think it looks REALLY nice, if you like it and cant find it anywhere PM me, i have a few extras..
yes the other doors will still activate the light, but the rear hatch will not trip the light at all when the switch is off, when the switch is on you will resume normal operation, WORKS AWSOME!!
great stuff, i will try this next week, hopefully the wiring will be the same in my xlt of the same year.
i think theres about 12 lights that come on when the doors are open. dont know why ford didnt put an override switch in, they must have have loads of complaints about batterys dying
