weight reduction

I have a 2000 f150 extended cab and I would like to know if anyone know a good weight to lighten up my truck because from what i've seen my truck is way to heavy even with the 255's on it.

Clutch fan is the biggy. Not because of its overall weight but because of the parasitic drag it causes. The only real thing I can think of is ditching the spare, which of course leaves you SOL if you get a flat. I guess you could take all the seats out except the drivers seat if you really want to get serious about it.

Not to be a smart a$$ bro but you bought a truck and yes they are heavy. I understand what you are wanting though But with the amount of weight you can remove I am not sure that it is going to make any difference.

I took off the frame mounted trailer hitch (not for weight, but to paint it) and decided not to put it back on since I never tow a trailer, that was a good 50+ pounds. Then you could take off the bed, and strip the interior and take out the a/c........and you'd still have a big heavy truck.....

stereo and speakers, spare tire, trailer hitch, rear seat, carpet, i mean all these things will lighten it up and will probably yield better miliage, but are you willing to be without them... i wouldnt...

Tonoue covers dont help these trucks for MPG... thats for sure, but they do hide things in the bed and look nice, get rid of that if you want... tow hooks, skid plates could go, fog lights...

I ditched my spare tire...it was enough weight to notice when I hit some bumps in the road. You can even ditch the winch for the spare too...

Carpet (thinking about ditching it in my truck), Headliner, rear seats, AC, bedliner, hitch, tow hooks, stereo, door panels, ???

Lighter tires and wheels. I was thinking of going to a 265/65/17 when I replace my stock tires. They seem to be about 5 lbs lighter then the 70 series and would gain a little more gear - which I think the truck needs. Plus less weight to spin - rotational weight is worst then dead weight.

Some people say that the rims on these trucks are really heavy... I'm not sure, mine don't seem too heavy when I take them off to rotate them. Mine are the 17" chrome clad wheels.

Fuel as well - you can drive around with a half tank or less to save some weight. 25 gallons of fuel (or more) can be hefty.

Otherwise - these trucks are pretty heavy, and you will see some gains in performance and fuel economy by removing what weight you can.

I am thinking of lowering my truck too for further gains, plus removing the stock fan and shroud.
