I have excessive air/wind noise from BOTH the driver's and passenger's doors, and they leak water as well. the noise comes from the top of the windows, (seal to the body), and the doors appear to be protruding further out on the top of the door rather than the bottom.
It sounds/looks like I need to adjust the doors, any suggestions/recommendations? With everyone complaining about cracked doors,.I'm a little uncertain about simply moving the strike plate in a little, and possibly adjusting the top hing?
Any thoughts, comments, and generally snide comments will be appreciated!
Come on guys, nobody has "heard" of wind noise in their truck? I have a brother in law with the same truck, and he had the same problem,..he took it to a body shop, who simple "bent" the tops of the doors in a little, this fixed his leaks and noise,..but i wonder if this is how the window cracks originate.
My driver side door used to leak air a little and I also just bent the top of the door back. This is something that you do real slow and little at a time. My truck had been wrecked. I'm surprised that both of your doors are out. That does not sound typical.
Now it only makes noise when I have a strong crosswind. I can hold the door at the top in and that stops the noise but that is not a good fix either.
Thanks for the input! I wonder how hard it is to adjust the strike plate and the hinges a little, you can physically see how the door fits nice and snug at the bottom and then gradually pulls away from the body until it's a good 1/4 inch off the cab at the top. The dealer just wanted to sell me some new rubber seals- and didn't mention the obvious misalignment. After I mentioned it, they told me for 200 bucks they would 'try' to align the doors better.
i figured i may as well try it myself first, then if i mess it up, pay the 200 bucks.
$200 to re-align the doors??? Last time I had a door aligned it was $25 (well it was on a dodge). I'd say talk to a body shop. I think your dealer is not being supportive and you may find better help from the body shop as to why it's so far off.
when i took my truck in to have all the other things wrong with it fixed, i had them look into the door situation, and apparently they contacted the warantee direct and told them it may need new rubber seals around the doors- therefore that was not covered.
maybe i should look at the exclusion list again, to see if it specically states door alignments.
