I just got done installing the Autometer gauge pillar pod with boost, EGT, and trans temp. All in all the install went well. I used the dieselmanor instructions from 7point3.com. I got the kit off of amazon.com, it was the cheapest one I found but didn't have everything to install. You have to get your own paint, wire, and connectors. I had most of the wire and connectors so that was fine. I wasn't expecting the kit to come as quick as it did so I went and picked up a can of Duplicolor plastic paint from the local Auto Zone, it wasn't a perfect match for the tan interior but is better than black for now. First the "T" fitting was the wrong size so I had to find another one for the boost gauge, I found one at work so got that covered. The tubing is a pain to straiten out but the use of a heat gun helps relax it a little. I found out that you need to be careful not to kink the tubing when pulling it through the firewall, I don't think it is affecting the gauge but I kinked the tubing and I am going to redo it or just cut out the kink and splice it later. Drilling and tapping the manifold is a real pain if you have a 4x4, the front driveshaft is in the way to get a straight shot at it. I just took my time and all went well. The "T" handle of my tap set was a little long and grazed the oil cooler or whatever that is in front of the manifold on the drivers side. I just 1/4-1/2 turned it and moved the handle. Also on my truck (99.5) the headlight switch was different than the one on the dieselmanor instructions. I had to pull the dash out to get to the back of the switch and there was a button on the left side that pushed two pins on top and bottom of the switch to the right to line up with notches in the dash, if that makes sense, I didn't get any pics sorry. I can see I am going to have a problem when I get the tuner because I was on the throttle just with the new gauges to see how they are working and get a feel for them. Hope that this will add a little bit of info for those that install this kit in the future.
Good job Al, I can see the moral of your story, get a good set of gauges from a rep dealer and have everything you need for the install. I had everything I needed and more from DIESLE MANOR, Isspro gauges.
What problems do you see now to effect the DP-TUNER?
Rick hit it on the head about using our site sponsors. I am on the short leash when it comes to spending money on my truck so I'm out to save a buck just like the next guy. However, I've been burned too many times by Ebay and other discount sites that I've learned my lesson. Nuff said on that.
I'm also curious about your tuner comment. Please explain.

I am not bagging on the Autometer kit, the only thing that was wrong was the "T" fitting was not big enough for the tubing (under $1 fix), I knew that it was not a complete kit like some of the sponsors. I just figured that I had most of the stuff I needed so went this route. The paint issue was my own fault for being impatient and to let other people know that it is not an exact match to the interior. You can never tell by the color of the cap till it is on whatever you are painting so I took the chance.
The coment on the DP being a problem is that my right foot was on the floor watching the gauges work So I know it will be worse with the tuner

There should be a WARNING on the package to cover that.
