08 rear diff cover

did a search, but still not sure, i have a 95 350 dually, will this cover fit??
under one search it said it would fit the sterling 10.25-10.5?? did that mean single wheel?
if not, anyone know a source for a reasonbly priced cover???????
what weight oil? and how much?
any input on the royal purple? worth the money?
thanks in advance!!!

It will fit the dually's also. Same axle different length. I did Royal purple just a preference though. I( can't remember the weight right off the top of my head. 85/??? sounds familiar.

I think its 75w 140. I used moible syn. You need to use syn. and add friction modifier if you have a limted slip.

75w-140 Synthetic is what my service manual calls for, and what I use. It holds less than a gallon....but I can't remember exactly how much.

You do not need friction modifier with any modern synthetic. Your limited slip will function better without it.

dont these covers need longer bolts?? couldnt find the post again but read yesterday that someone even found some stainless bolts?? what lenght and size??

I believe they need to be 1-1/4" long IIRC.

Yep 1/4-20 thread at least 1.25 long. I found 1.5 long stainless and they worked without trimming them down.

I put mine on when I had the gears changed from 4:10 to 3:55. It looks great!

1/4-20 seems awful small, I thought they were 5/16-18

OOPS!! I was wrong! they are 5/16-18 not 1/4-20! went back to my thread when I installed. I Lied!!

how good does the surface look? anybody tried to polish cover?? then you could have a clear powder coat put on and should look outstanding.

I think it would be really hard to polish. It would need a lot a sanding and there are too many tight spots. It looks great the way it is though.
