PMT1 vs VDH2???

PMT1 vs VDH2???

The guy that I went to to have my truck tuned did a really good job, the only problem we are having is getting the Torque converter to lock up in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear at WOT.

Brian from BTS told me to have him put the PMT1 strategy in the PCM to get it to lock up. We did that and it works great, the only problem is that the guage cluster doesn't work when we do this.

What is the difference? I have VDH2 Strategy now and the PMT1 isn't meant for the transmission I have (more electronics I guess)... Can anyone enlighten me and offer some assistance to me and the guy that tuned my truck?

He has also transferred ALL the PMT1 strategy into a VDH2 file and burned it to my PCM, still didn't work... Truck locks up in all the gears he tells it to except at WOT...

Hope someone can help!

damnit that sounds bad.... What did ford do differently from the 01 and 02? I can put a 01 code in my PCM and TC will lock up great but no guages!!! I would think it is easy to fix... It has to be a software issue...

The whole gauge cluster changed in 02'. You got the addition of a trans gauge and the odometer is digital in the 02' to 04' trucks. I also believe the GEM module is different because in the 02' and newer you have more options like the auto headlights, auto-locking doors, and chilled cup holders.

You're S.O.L. The '02 and '03 trucks used a different communication protocol and data transfer strategy. 02 and 03 are their own animals....

Good luck.

Also, according to David Lott, the PMTx programs will not lock the TC at WOT....it was a measure to help save the transmission.

Called Jodi today and I asked him if he could write a tune that would Lockup the TC so I know it's possible.

The guy that tuned my truck also put a PMT1 tune on my truck and DOES Lock the TC so I know it's possible you just need the correct peramiters...

PMTx will not perform as desired STOCK.

I wasn't trying to be rude or anything. I just know that I got TC lockup when I had the PMT1 on my PCM...

I am open to any suggestions/comments! Thanks guys!

Have Jody tune it and forget about it.

PMT does have some of the best Tow pramiters in it, NVK has the best race, but both will not work on your 02 truck.

I don't know, but I hope you get it straighten up. I am glad I have the PMT-1 PCM in my truck. I know nothing about the differences, so good luck.

Not saying nothing bad about the guy tuning your truck, but I would have Jody have a stab at it.
