gear ratio

I was wanting one of you to to a gear ratio calculation for me. Its not in my ford but I think dave has a good calculator on his computer for this.

At 62 MPH my RPMs are at 4,000 in 4th gear (not over drive so its a 1:1 ratio) and the tire size is 205/75R15. I came up with 5:53s so I wonder How far off I am. This is on my 90 4x4 suzuki sidekick (((I can call it a FORD with a 7.3 IDI if it makes you all feel better about posting this hear but I figured the 4 grand of rpms would somewhat stand out))) I have have been driving it due to the increased fuel prices. I still drive the 7.3 a coupple times a week but decided to use this thing since it gets 28 mpg. I do wish I could drive my ford more but Im paying $500-$600 a month in fuel in it. It Handles much better and I can haul all my crap with me. Anyway Thanks

I'm not sure what is available for the sidekick, but a 5 speed trans swap might be a better option, especially if its a 4x4 (you didn't say if it was).

Awsome page!!! I saved that in my favorits. I ran up several different calculations for both the ford and suzuki. I came up with 5:20s.
It is a manual 5 speed overdrive 4x4 tranny. I just used 4th gear because I know its probably a 1:1 ratio and I don't know what overdrive ratio is but now I can probably figure it out. I was just wanting to know exactly what they were because it seems like its screeming at highway speed. Has tons of torque for offroading and pulling trailers though. I used it for 2 years stright in the past pulling at around a 4000lb loaded tandam axle trailer almosot every day. Went through front brake pads like no other though. jeep worked great for pulling it around our small town from house to house. I used to mow several yards and other side work such as hauling off junk, trees and tearing down small sheads or buildings. It was easy to manuver through tight areas. Heck, I could pop a u on a two lane road with a trailer and not have to back up once. This truck I have to go around the block.

Anyway, I better quit jabering about it. Time to go troubleshoot my glow plugs on my 7.3. They don't turn on at all. even the light on the dash. Im wondering if it that temp switch that is screwed in the block. That may be my next thread.
