Does this sound right?????

I brought my truck into the dealer last week for an oil leak around the bell housing. They couldn't pinpoint the leak so they put the UV dye into it and told me to drive it 500 miles or so and bring it back.

I brought it back the other day and i when i called to get an update on it today the guy told me it was the headgaskets and they were going to be replaced. Does that seem right? I'm looking to you guys for help b/c i'm a relative newbie to 6.0's but i'm in freakmode and the dealership i brought it to is supposedly legit, i just wanna make sure.

I bought in Feb w/ 41k miles on it and it now has 47k on it. The oasis report for it was clean prior to me buying it.

Thanks!!

Bump^^. Not the best diagnoser of problems on here, but i havent read in the 2 yrs i have been on here that people were leaking oil and the headgaskets turned out to be the culprit. Techs help me out here! But if the dealers are going to fiddle around with them, see if they will put you some ARP studs on there if thats the route they are going to take

Yep, definately buy some ARP studs and have them installed at the same time. Best $400 you can spend on your truck.

I called back this morning and spoke with one of the service writers. Evidently they traced my oil leak w/ the dye and found the origin of the leak and also found a coolant leak in the same area, that is the reason for the headgasket replacement. I have asked about replacing the bolts w/ ARP studs when they put everything back together and they are going to let me know if they will do it. I have my fingers crossed!
