Transmission ?
i bought a new F250 4WD this spring. had a problem with the front end shaking on bumps which was corrected by getting bigger tires. no other problems really except for the transmission shifting into overdrive kind of hard but didn't think too much of it. now i have 20K miles on it and was towing an unloaded trailer the other day. i also had my plow on. the truck starts smoking on the highway so i pull over and see transmission fluid leaking onto the exhaust. i brought it to the dealership. they said they would have to pull the transmission out to see where it was leaking from. they wouldnt give me a loaner truck in the meantime. i have a landscaping company and the reason i bought a new truck was so i wouldnt have to worry about downtime which i guess isnt the case with new fords. the service manager told me to go to enterprise rental and he would get me a vehicle. i get there and they want to give me a ford focus. when i complained they gave me an explorer which is also worthless to me since i cant tow anything with it. the kicker is the guy tells me that if i need a transmission he's going to put a rebuilt in it and wont give me a warranty on it. i also own chevys that have had problems but chevy will put new parts in the truck and warranty them for an additional 36K miles. i really like my ford and want to buy more fords but if there service is going to be this bad i'm going to buy chevys from now on. does anyone have any similar experiences with ford transmissions or ford service? any suggestions? would greatly appreciate feedback.
