Hello, I have a 01 F-350 7.3L. Today noticed a weird coolant like smell coming from the truck but looking under the hood i found no leaks and everything looked fine. Coming back smelling it again and checking it again, then again still didnt figure out where it was coming from. Truck running fine and not hot, seemed like smoke started coming out behind my steering wheel and dash.
Pulled over again and turned the truck off, looked like smoke but smelled like a faint coolant burning smell but not strong like if it was really burning. Start driving again and its gone but starts up again getting worse, since it wasnt burning smoke i kept driving till home, then i turned on my ac and vents were spitting out smoke. So maybe thinking the heater core, but would like the experts opinion. I need my ac in the high desert, it doesnt blow cold anymore. Thank you.
Sounds like heater core and your AC problem is a seperate issue. The AC might only be low on referigerate but you will need to have a good set of gauges put on the system to make sure.
