I made this bracket with some scrap material laying around. Just took it off to repaint and get new bolts that arent so rusty.
While I dont have my tonneau cover on right now you can see that this bracket sets its to the side enough for the tonneau to lay flat on it. Also, since this bolts to the bed stake (from under the truck) it is self grounded.
Im no fabricator so I am sure someone with a little skill could adapt this idea to work even better.
P.S. This is usually a pretty snug fit, I just laid it in there to show you how it went.
I mounted mine on the drivers side at the front close to the windshield, there was just enough room to mount it under the hood but coming up between the hood and the body without the hood catching it. I have a quick disconnect so I can take the antenna off easily. It works great.
Ok I am going to try to post the pics for you guys...here it goes
I will post pictures of the console when it is complete. I am waiting for the correct bracket. Now that I know how to do it I will post pics of the whole truck in a ner Thread. Thanks OZ again...you and many others like you make this forum great
Sarge-
YOU POSTED A PIC!! Great work!
And hey, if I didn't have knowledge to share, and people to share with, I wouldn't have much in life.
The mount looks like it'll work out! Do you have a great ground on that? Also, have you adjusted the match? SWR may be a little high, but it'll still local talk fine... Just don't push any power or you'll pop your boots off!
Brian
Yeah the ground is good, there are 2 set screws on the bottom of the mount that pierce the paint. I have to do the SWR match but its picking up good. I didnt talk on it yet cause I didnt SWR match it. I have to read the instructions on the new CB. I had to get a Cobra 29 found out the old Uniden was shot. We'll see how it works I may go with the Mag mount if need be...if the ground isnt that good or I just dont like it there.
Yeah I figured it out...even posted a pic of the whole truck in another thread. This computer stuff aint that bad, only took me an hour to figure it out...
Amazingly I could rebuild a transmission or engine with my eyes closed, figure out any electrical problem....but it takes me an hour to post a Picture. Will a K-40 work with a HAM radio. I may get my license and buy one eventually.

I don't think it'll work on the higher and lower bands... CB is 11 meter, amateur radio is 10 meter, HAM std. is 2 meter, there's 1.25 meter for newbies. etc... One size dose not fit all...
I looked at all the ideas on the forum and decided to mount my Firestik top-load antenna on a bracket on the side of my bed tool box. I made my own bracket by using the metal mounting frame from a single-gang poly electric outlet box (trimmed off the ears). It mounted perfect to the side of my toolbox and already had a hole for the antenna mount. I ran the coax through the bed floor and the ran it along the underbody to the drivers door-jamb. I drilled a small hole in the wire compartment under the threshold (and sealed it), running the coax under the kick panel, under the dash to my cb. I followed another installer's idea of using the screws for the "litter bag" hook to mount the bracket. The project turned out real nice and clean. SWR was about as good as you could get it.
