hi help needed

could anyone tell me the difference between a flywheel and a flex plate ? thanks for your support

A flywheel is heavy, stiff, and has a surface for a manual trans clutch to apply to. A flex plate is thin to allow it to flex when an automatic transmisson's torque converter expands.

thank you for the info mark . it's actually for a boat , and they use a coupling for the shaft to slide into so i think i'll go with a fly wheel . thanks again
