Odometer Altering....

I drive a 1985 F-250HD 6.9L Diesel T-19 4 Spd Transmission. I just got a new cluster off ebay that has a tach in it and it has lower miles on it than my cluster. Is there anyway to 'turn' the miles up?

There's a small perforated plastic piece in the odometer that holds the digits in place. If you gently remove that piece you can adjust the numbers to whatever you want, then reassemble the odometer. The odometer has to be removed from the cluster. It's been better than a year since I did the same thing to my truck...I don't remember exactly how I got to that plastic piece, but it was very intuitive. It will be very apparent to you.

If I were you I'd just take the tach and plastic circuit film out of the new cluster and put it in your old one.

You wouldn't have to touch the odometer then.

You are aware that the diesel and gas tachs are different no?

Good point...the only reason to mess with the odometer is if you're changing from a setup without a trip odometer to one with. That was my situation.
