Would any of you guys happen to know of any place I could send the original instrument cluster out of my 93 F250 to have it fixed. I would love to have the odometer show the actual mileage. The cluster that's in it shows 192K and it's acutally more like 92K! The speedo and odometer stopped working in the original cluster is the reason I had to change them out. Is there a way to change the odometer reading in a cluster? I know that maybe you're not technically suppose to do that but I'm not trying to make it look like it has less miles than it actually does and I would never sell this truck anyway, I would just like for it to show the actual miles since it has so few for a 18 year old truck.
Pull it out, take off the needle and use a drill on the end of the cable and run it backwards. You need to pull the needle or it will mess up the speed reading when you put it back together. I found this out when I first got my Bronco (it was an 88 stlye then) and wanted to see if the speedo worked.
Is is a 93, which means it has no cable drive, strictly electronic. Plus, it is digital, not a roll type. It will require someone to re flash it, but not even sure that can be done to it for the tamper proofing reason.
Yep, electronically controlled and digital odometer. I was afraid that would be the case. The dealership can order me a new one from Ford but they said it would be about 400 bucks! I don't think the odometer showing an extra 100K miles is bothering me that much! Plus my wife's 99 suburban just took a crap this evening so who know how much that's gonna cost me!
