Hot oil is breaking down quicker. I am seeing 225-230 almost all the time. The oil cooler is doing its job by keeping it under 230 for the most part. But I am also not seeing ANY benifit what so ever.

Does anyone have solid evidence of that? So far, all I have seen is "International designed it that way, Ford redesigned it differently because of a fleet issue" and all that. Nobody has conclusive proof that it improves mileage, power or whatever.

IH had a 203 for theres because its "more effeciant"...

Ford changed it so it would pass emmisions.

But yet nobody has reported that it gains mileage over the less efficient one

There are lots of "claims" but I have yet to see anyone have any data showing it...

I bit because the Housing was leaking and I figure, while I am there... But I am really thinking of getting rid of it.

Thats a very interesting remark, diesel site has a explination of the 203 thermostat on thier web-site. They said the truck runs alot more efficient at hotter temps. As for mileage gains, don't know.

If that is true, how do you measure efficiency? I do it via mileage or power gains. Explanations and theories are great but if nobody has been able to substantiate it, what is the worth of the theory?

Again, thats why I bought one. But how do they come to the conclusion that its more efficient?

I am saying that at this point my oil temps have gone up to the point that I dont feel comfortable with it. Now I am running hybrid injectors and push the hell out of the truck but...

My Oil temp sender is in the hottest spot too, on the filter head.

I personally don't have the 203 in mine but getting ready to change coolant and just throwing that write up (dieselsite) to what the explanation of the 203 does, nothing more. Will i change the stock to 203, we'll see what others have to say.

My summer economy seems to be about the same, but last winter was my first one with the 203 and I definitely got better fuel economy than I ever have before. I'm pretty skeptical of a lot of mods but I think there is something to this one.

Once the stat opens at 203* , how is it effecting the 210-230* temps? Isn't that where the rad comes into play?

Cat had us change all the t-stats in our trucks to 210 in the pete's we run..they claim it burns the fuel better..better running, better performance and better MPG.... last summer some guy's here on FTE have said they feel better power when its hot out..they was useing a 195.. they have changed to the 203 now...

I wish the vendor would spend the time and a few bucks to run it on a dyno and let us see what is what. Otherwise, this might just become like the supplements they sell. Lots of placebo effects but nobody can be sure what is what.

My ex-gf swore that she couldn't sleep if she took regular coffee. One day, I told her that it was decaf. After she drank it, I said "Oops. It was regular." Well, she couldn't sleep all night so we found other ways to entertain ourselves. Anyway, next morning, I told her "Oh, look at that. I was right all along. It WAS decaf."

The water temps are staying in the 200-210 range, the oil temps are what are too high IMHO...

What a genius!!
