Hey everyone,
Wanted to know if anyone was having the same problem. My Cruise control started acting up, first it would shut off after about 20 minutes, then 5, now it will not turn on at all. It doesn't sound like something as simple as a fuse. Ant help here would be appreciated. Thanks
Truck is 04 F150, 5.4 with automatic.
Iam having the same problem . Lately the cruise control would work intermediately then went out all togetheer. i took it to th Ford Dealer they haven't heard about any issues on this matter. is anyone else having this problem?
I havent had any problems with the cruise control but I did receive a notice for a recall that involves the cruise controll unit. Seems that after you park your truck the cruise control unit overheats and could possibly catch fire. Dont know if the problems are related, but you might want to take it to your local dealor.
When i first got my truck ('03) the cruise control didn't work. My dad runs the ford dealership in Slidell and he took it to work and they fixed i right away. i can ask him about it if you want?
Well, after chasing fuses, conectors and leads. I broke down and took "Red" (My 04 Lariat) into the dealer and had them look at it. Honestly, they were stumped. After two hours, they came to the determination, it was a faulty brake peddle relay switch. So any of you who are having a common or similar problem, check that. Will keep y'all updated.
I am currently having this problem with my truck and was wondering if you could tell me where this brake pedal relay switch is located, my truck also does not require the brake pedal to be depressed in order to switch from park. Im not sure if that problem would be related but it sounds like it would be.
I am not exactly sure where its located, I can assume and I hate to do that. I was thinking it was something like a traditional brake light relay, but with these trucks, could be located else where.
Hey ai ve been trying to figure out why my cruise control still flikkers on while going down the road. I tried to turn it on at 40 mph and it worked for a while. Then aI got up to 55 mph I did not touch the brake pedal Then it would flicker off. I don't think it could be a brake pedal realy since I did not touch the brakes. Any more suggestions. The dealer is stumped. Oh yeah they want me bring it in , Then it would proably work fine. Any body know what years the recall would be on this cruise control ?
The relay that was replaced was sending a false signal to the pcm. The tech that worked the problem was stumped as well, he had tried everything and everything appeared to be working except the cruise wouldn't engage. Since the relay was telling the pcm that the brake was applied, then it wouldn't allow the cruise to be engaged. Hope that makes sence.
The PCM is located on the passengerside firewall. I honestly don't know where the switch is physically located. IF you had a book or a diagram that showed you the layout of the system, you could probably trace out where it is located and at least check it out to see if that is your problem. I was told that it is a redundant system so it could be that relay or the other relay for the brake lights. Hope I helped a little.
