Let me pose the question a different way. I realize that depressing the brake pedal is required to shift out of park but have you tested that lately? If not then try shifting out of park without depressing the brake? You can test without the truck running but with the key in the "on" position.
I don't mean to be condescending but we automatically depress the brake before shifting an automatic transmission so you would not be aware if the shift interlock is actually working. I wasn't! The shift interlock is associated with the cruise control circuitry so this is critical in the diagnosis.
My cruise is not working either. And I can shift into drive without depressing the brake pedal. does this nean the brake interlock switch is not working, and if so will this cause the cruise to not work? thanks in advance for any help on this.
