Weekend Plans

OK folks, its been awhile since we've had one of these type postings. In the past I usually got this going earlier in the day but I've been busy (procrastination is key)

What are the big plans for the weekend?? What are you trying to get done on your various projects?

Here's where I'm at;
Plugging away at my fuel injection project on my 500ci Caddy

I finished soldering another section of my MegaSquirt controller and downloaded the MegaTune controller software. So far so good! My circuit board seems to pass the tests so far. I have the power supply, clock, and communications sections completed. Woohooo.

As far as hardware is concerned. Last weekend I stripped my intake manifold of the fuel rails, injectors, throttle body, etc and soaked it overnight is "Greased Lightning". The next morning, 30 years of crud easily rinsed off with a garden hose. Tonight I was able to fabricate an EGR port block off plate.

Tomorrow night is cruise night and I'm hoping to take the truck out and talk to some buddies. Sunday is a great carshow here in Albuquerque and I might enter the wife's 65 Falcon if I can get it cleaned up enough tomorrow.

Its going to be a busy weekend, here's hoping that progress is made in shops and driveways around this great country of ours.

Its frosty time
Bobby

Get all four wheel cylinders and rubber hoses replaced, and the front drums and tires re-installed. I'm stuck waiting on an axle nut socket before I can reinstall the rear wheels. I also need to rebuild my carb to stop the fuel leak.

yardwork. which involves moving body parts from one shed to another to make room for all the parts scattered about in the garage, which means making room in the garage so I can actually work on something. Winters have a habit of accumulating stuff in the most in-opportune places. Also gonna start on a tool list for everything I need to get these projects going in the right direction.

Starting to build a 10'x14' Garden shed so I can get all the yard tools etc, kids bikes etc out of the garage (there might be a little extra room in it for truck parts-shhh don't tell my wife). need more room for truck parts and space to work in garage. plus I'm always a little uneasy doing any welding, grinding etc with lawnmowers weedeaters misc gas cans kicking around. I probably should get some industrial size fire extinguishers too.
My Daughters Soccer game, a car show and swap meet, pick up dog crap in yard, mow the lawn, plus my wife has been asking me to make her some more picture frames for a while now! I'm tired - goodnight!

Well it will start off checking the new alt on my 70 C10 SWB then I will spend the week end out in my shop working on a customers 70 2wd Blazer (1 of 815 built in 70) installing a full Air Ride suspension system with ART's Ride Pro leveling system so I can get it out of my shop in the next few weeks. This way I can get my 51 F1 in the shop for a few weeks to install the MII front end, T-Bird IRS and 5.3L/AOD.
Should be 100* in the shop so I will head out at 4am and turn on the fans in the paint booth with my shop doors open to cool things off for a bit. Then close it up untill it gets hot again around 2pm and just sweet alot and drink tons of water. Good news is I wont need to stop for potty breaks

Load up auto transmission haul it into town for a fresh up, Drop off drive shaft to be shortened 1.5". Picked up required steel yesterday and will work on the bed '53 bed that I will be using. First test fit for height and length. Cut off bottom flange all around and replace with new 2"x1/8" angle iron, remove rear channel from the bed (below tailgate) and replace with 2"x5"x 1/8" rectangular steel for added support for the tailgate and roll pan. Break lower panels for each corner of the bed extensions and weld in place. Clean out the bed of the donor truck and cut out the bed floor. Square up the bed and weld in the bed floor. Recover and repair rear fenders in preparation to weld them to the bed sides. Rad supports, radiator install, MSD distributor install......etc

Yard work and spend some quality time with the family (ATV ride and a picnic) and skull a few wobbly pops.....

Work, Work, Work...

Whew !!!
You guys are makin' me tired just readin' all this. I did something completely different than all that work. I went to the Dayton Hamvention Flea market. It's the bigest event of it's type in the world. I had to nourish my other habits of Ham Radio and electronics. But, since the flea market has a lot of tools, machine tooling and all sorts of electrical and electronic parts, I didn't completely ignore my truck project. I found an abundance of electrical parts and pieces for stocking the bins in my shop that serve my automotive needs. I also found some monster diodes for converting AC buzzbox welders to DC welders that were NOS at a fraction of their original price. We Darksiders have to keep well supplied with all sorts of unusual stuff. I also ate a lot of really bad junk food.

I hope all yiu guys get rested up after all that serious work.

Later Guys...

Like Havi.....

The weather has turned to 100F in the last two days and the lawn is turning brown. Repaired the sadly neglected sprinkler system which required most of the heads to be changed out. It's an Acre so it's a lot of work on the crippled crackling knees....... Good thing Advil and Stone Brewery Pale Ale are within arm's reach.....

I'm with eman, it was 103 degrees at my house today. I went to the National Street Rod show at 8:00 AM and by 10:00 it was in the 90's and ugly. Went home and messed around in the garage for a while, but then sat in the house and enjoyed a frosty with the air conditioner running.

Here it is, Monday morning....ugh

I did manage to get a few things done on the truck;

I piddled around with the fuel injection stuff and managed to get some more components soldered into the circuit board on the MegaSquirt. I got rid of some stuff in one of the sheds (my buddy came by and picked up several boxes full of VW engine stuff)
Saturday night I took the truck out to cruise night.
On Sunday we had great weather. I went to the local car show. I ended up not entering the Falcon because I got lazy on Saturday an didn't get it washed and waxed.

All in all, it was a good weekend
Bobby
